People with cognitive disabilities Groups defined by their level of intellectual function and adaptive behaviour outside the definition of intellectual disability.
This group includes: Individuals with IQ scores from 70 to 85 or is one standard deviation below the mean of an individually administered, standardised instrument that measures general intellectual function, and,
one standard deviation below the mean of either: (a) one of the following three types of adaptive behaviour: conceptual, social, and practical skills or (b) an overall score on a standardised measure of conceptual, social, and practical skills. ('cognitive disability' does not have an internationally agreed definition or assessment. We are using this term to distinguish this group as having less than average intellectual function and adaptive behaviour skills - but at a level not significant enough to be classified as intellectual disability)
